Today I have a special gift to give back to you, to say thank you to my readers, and to bring the Read Aloud Series contributed by Da Poppins to a close. If you missed the series, I strongly recommend you click over to have a read.
Alice In Wonderland, a colors primer by Jennifer Adams from the BabyLit range is much-loved by the NANNY SHECANDO children (especially with the littlies). We’ve enjoyed stocking our bookshelves with the fun and fresh books from BabyLit, and enjoyed incorporating them into our reading routines even more. The BabyLit range are beautifully designed to appeal to your little ones, fostering a fondness and appreciation for the joy and art of reading. Printed in a “book board” style, they’re hardy and durable to sustain dribbles, grubby fingers, excessive page turning, and general wear and tear.
This copy of Alice In Wonderland features vibrant illustrations by Alison Olivers and is a fashionable way to introduce your toddler to the world of classic literature. With simple words, bright colours, and fun illustrations, it’s the perfect Read Aloud book. And at Christmas time, it’s also the perfect christmas stocking stuffer.
Follow the white rabbit down the hole and drink from the purple bottle to meet an orange cat, a blue caterpillar, a mad hatter with a brown hat, and the queen of red hearts in Alice In Wonderland. This 22 page book of full colour illustrations is absolutely gorgeous, and in our opinion, a must for all young children just beginning to uncover the magic of reading!
To encourage the magic of reading in your little ones, and to celebrate the gift of giving, NANNY SHECANDO has this great giveaway for you to win! (BabyLit Books + A Giveaway)

I really love all of Alison Lester’s books. I’m also a huge Enid Blyton fan! Oh and Roald Dahl of course!!

I love reading Yawn by Nick Sharrat – the rhythm and rhyme flow so naturally, and the handy architecture (last word of one couplet rhymes with animal name of the next) means it’s easy to memorise and retell whenever you need to fill in time or add some fun.
Mr (then) 2 and I discovered it at the library, and decided we needed our own copy. Two years later, he and his 2 year old twin brothers still love hearing it and telling it.
My little ones (1 and 3) love Where is the Green Sheep? hardback book and read it over and over. Other favourites are the Gruffalo and The Very Cranky Bear. After recently studying the importance of high quality books for the under 5s, I’ve become aware of the types of books that they engage with and respond to. As a fan of the adult version of Alice, I think this is a wonderful version of the book for babies and toddlers. A perfect introduction to the magical world of books.

Wow. This looks like a gorgeous book. I’ve never seen or heard of it before. Our favourite book at the moment is the Good night Sleep tight board book. The girls love saying one of the final lines as they shake their fingers – ‘Look you two. It’s way past your bedtime. Now good (kiss) night (kiss) sleep tight 🙂 ‘ #teamIBOT

Aw that sounds gorgeous! It’s always so sweet when they can recite the words and re-enact things. I’ll have to have a look at that book too. xx

Our favourite book to read is a wooden board book that is full of farm animal pictures. I make it into a song about the noises they make. Pig goes oink oink, sheep goes Baa Baa. Duck goes quack quack, rooster goes cock-a-doodle-do… and so on. She now hands it to me going baa baa when she wants me to read it to her.

Oh too cute Toni! It’s such a major milestone when they associate pictures and things with sounds isn’t it. Little Viv is the same, she loves the farm animal books too. xx

We are loving The Wonky Donkey right now, and never get tired of Where is the Green Sheep, or The Baa Baa’s as we like to call it here. I have bought the stunning My Heart A Book of Feelings by Jo Witek, and Gus and Me by Keith Richards for my toddler for Xmas.

These books look beautiful! My girls love to read and we pick different books every night before bed time. It is our special time of day to sit together and enjoy the stories. At the moment they are loving me to read Practical Cats to them. It doesn’t all make sense but they love the rhyming and gist of the stories.

Rhyming is always a big winner with the kids, it makes it more tangible for them I find. So good to hear you have a regular little reading routine too! xx

Hi Hope, I’m new here. I’m surprised I haven’t found you on IBOT sooner. 🙂 I love the idea of this blog. I’m having a hard time finding mummy-nanny work right now. I’ll definitely be back.
So with out further ado my answer to your giveaway question:
My little toddler is a mover and a shaker
It’s rare that he finds time to sit himself down
He doesn’t have time to be craft maker,
he’s definitely going to be the class clown.
But there’s something that brings him calm
at the end of our long day,
and I can tell you now it’s not sleep balm.
I say “grab a book” and off he waddles,
he comes back with his favourite
and sits there for cuddles
with me and his daddy named David.
He always picks one out of the lot

It’s “Goodnight Vancouver”
It can’t be forgot.
He loves my home town, my little mover.
